Constructive triangles are a classic Montessori material for hands-on discovery of geometry. By assembling individual triangles, the child verifies how new figures are formed from simple shapes, while also developing a sense for harmony and disharmony (control of error).
The set is stored in five boxes for clear sorting and work:
Direct aim: to show that by combining different triangles, new forms are created.
Indirect aims: understanding that plane figures constructed with straight lines can be composed from triangles, and preparation for understanding the concepts of similarity, congruence, and equivalence, including their use when finding the area of figures.
