Each cylinder has different resistance when the piston is pressed, so the child naturally practices perceiving pressure and resistance and learns to distinguish subtle differences.
The contrasting black and white tops make orientation easier and support sorting and matching – the child looks for pairs with the same resistance and places them next to each other.
Handling the cylinders on the tray supports fine motor skills as well as hand–eye coordination. Natural wood feels pleasant to the touch and is suitable for Montessori activities.
The wooden tray contains 6 pairs of cylinders with different resistance when the piston is pressed. The cylinders have black and white tops for easy matching – the child’s task is to find pairs with the same pressure and place them next to each other.

How to work with the aid: Carry the tray with the cylinders to a mat or small table and place it in the upper left corner. Take a cylinder with a white piston in your left hand and press the piston with your index finger (for smaller children, it may be easier to press with the thumb). Then take the cylinders with a black piston in your right hand and look for the cylinder with the same pressure. Place the selected pairs next to each other as pairs.
